Redae by Mermru ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we process, how it is handled, and the strict boundaries we maintain regarding data collection when you use the Redae Chrome Extension.
1. Information We Process
-
Text Input & Editable Content:
To provide real-time spellchecking, suggestions, and autocomplete predictions, Redae inspects text actively typed into editable input fields within your browser.
-
Authentication Information:
If you activate a Pro license key, the extension processes your license key token solely to verify your subscription status and enable premium capabilities.
-
Locally Stored Preferences:
Custom dictionary entries, language options, and user configuration settings are stored locally on your device via Chrome storage APIs.
2. How Your Data Is Processed
-
Local-First Architecture:
The core processing, spellchecking, and autocomplete logic execute directly on your device inside your browser's local sandbox (utilizing IndexedDB and Web Workers). Your continuous typing, full sentences, emails, and chat messages are never logged, transmitted, or stored on remote servers.
-
Rare Word Lookups (The Oracle):
When a single word is not present in your local dictionary, Redae may transmit that isolated, anonymous word token to our validation server to determine whether it is a valid Ge'ez dictionary entry. This request contains no surrounding sentences, document context, user identifiers, or personal metadata.
-
Session Memory:
Once an unknown word is verified, it is cached locally so that remote lookups are never repeated for the same word during your writing session.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
-
No Sale of Data:
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal data, keystrokes, or text content to data brokers, advertising networks, or third parties under any circumstances.
-
Single-Purpose Requirement:
User data is strictly used to deliver and improve the typing assistant and spellchecking features requested by the user.
-
No Creditworthiness Assessment:
We do not use or transfer user data to evaluate creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
All personal dictionary additions, session caches, and configuration preferences reside strictly within your local browser sandbox.
Any network communications between the extension and our dictionary or authentication servers are encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
5. Managing and Deleting Your Data
You retain full control over your stored data at all times:
- You can view, add, or remove words in your custom dictionary directly through the extension's Settings interface.
- Uninstalling the extension immediately purges all locally cached dictionaries, session records, and stored preferences managed by the extension.
