During the seventh week, in the seventh year, in the forty-seventh jubilee [2303], your father came from the land of Canaan. You were born during the fourth week, in its sixth year, in the forty-eighth jubilee [2330], which was the time of distress for the Israelites.
ወበሱባዔ ሳብዕ በሳብዕ ዓመት በዘ አርብዓ ወሰብዓቱ ኢዩቤልዉ መጽአ አቡከ እምድረ ከናአን ወተወለድከ በራብዕ ሱባዔ በሳድስ ዓመቱ በዘ አርብዓ ወሰማኒቱ ኢዮቤሌዎን ዘውእቱ መዋዕለ ምንዳቤ ላዕለ ውሉደ እስራኤል።

The pharaoh, the king of Egypt, had given orders regarding them that they were to throw their sons — every male who was born — into the river.
ወአዘዘ ንጉሠ ግብጽ ፈርዖን ትእዛዘ ላዕሌሆሙ ከመ ይግድፉ ውሉዶሙ ኵሎ ሮሰ ዘተወልደ ውስተ ፈለግ

They continued throwing (them in) for seven months until the time when you were born. Your mother hid you for three months. Then they told about her.
ወነበሩ እንዘ ይገድፉ ሰብዐተ ወርኀ እስከ አመ ዕለተ ተወለድከ። ወኀብአተከ እምከ ሠለስተ አውራኀ ወነገሩ በእንቲሃ።

She made a box for you, covered it with pitch and asphalt, and put it in the grass at the riverbank. She put you in it for seven days. Your mother would come at night and nurse you, and during the day your sister Miriam would protect you from the birds.
ወገብረት ለከ ነፍቀ ወለበጠታ ፒሳ ወአስፋሊጦ ወአንበረቶ ውስተ ሣዕር ኀበ ድንጋገ ፈለግ ወአንበረተከ ውስቴታ ሰቡዐ መዋዕለ። ወእምከ ትመጽእ በሌሊት ወታጠብወከ ወመዓልተ ተዐቅበከ ማርያ እኅትከ እምነ አዕዋፍ

At that time Tarmuth, the pharaoh’s daughter, went out to bathe in the river and heard you crying. She told her slaves to bring you, so they brought you to her.
ወበውእቱ መዋዕል ወፅአት ተርሙት ወለተ ፈርዖን ከመ ትትኀፀብ በውስተ ፈለግ ወሰምዐት ቃለከ እንዘ ትበኪ ወትቤ ለዕብራዊያቲሃ ከመ ያምጽአከ ወአምጽአከ ኀቤሃ

She took you out of the box and pitied you.
ወአውፅአተከ እምነፍቅ ወምሕረተከ።

Then your sister said to her: ‘Should I go and summon for you one of the Hebrew women who will care for and nurse this infant for you’? [She said to her: ‘Go’.]
ወትቤላ እኅርከ እሖርኑ ወእጸውዕ ለኪ አሐተ እምዕብራዊያት እንተ ተሐፅኖ ወታጠብዎ ለኪ ለዝ ሕፃን። [ወትቤላ ሑሪ።]

She went and summoned your mother Jochebed. She gave her wages and she took care of you.
ወሖረት ወጸውዐታ ለእምከ ለኢዮክቤት ወወሀበታ ዐስበ ወሐፀነተከ

Afterwards, when you had grown up, you were brought to the pharaoh’s daughter and became her child. Your father Amram taught you (the art of) writing. After you had completed three weeks [ = 21 years], he brought you into the royal court.
ወእምዝ ልሂቀከ ወሰዱከ ቤተ ፈርዖን ወኮንከ ውሉዳ ወመሀረከ ዕብራን አቡከ መጽሐፈ ወእምዘ ፈጸምከ ሠለስተ ሱባዔ አብአከ ውስተ ዐጸደ መንግሥት።

You remained in the court for three weeks of years [ = 21 years] until the time when you went from the royal court and saw the Egyptian beating your companion who was one of the Israelites. You killed him and hid him in the sand.
ወሀለውከ ውስተ ዐጸድ ሠለስተ ሱባዔ ዓመት እስከ መዋዕል አመ ወፃእከ እምዐጸደ መንግሥት። ወርኢኮ ለግብጻዊ እንዘ ይዘብጦ ለካልእከ ዘእምነ ውሉደ እስራኤል ወቀተልኮ ወኀባእኮ ውስተ ኆጻ።

On the next day you found two of the Israelites fighting. You said to the one who was acting unjustly: ‘Why are you beating your brother’?
ወበሳኒታ ዕለት ረከብከ ክልኤተ እንዘ ይትባአሱ እምውሉደ እስራኤል ወትቤሎ ለዘይትዔገል ለምንት ትዘብጥ እኅዋከ

He became angry and indignant and said: ‘Who appointed you as ruler and judge over us? Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian’? Then you were afraid and ran away because of this matter.
ወተምዕዐ ወተቈጥዐ ወይቤ መኑ ሤመከ ላዕሌነ መልአከ ወመኰንነ ትቅትለኒኑ ትፈቅድ በከመ ቀተልኮ ለግብጻዊ ወፈራህከ ወጐየይከ እምቅድመ ዝንቱ ነገር።
